My New Catch Phrase –
Helping Women Get Their SASSI On!
We can’t change much of what faces us each day, but we can change our response to it. I propose we approach each day, and particularly the annoyances with a bit of SASSI. We can keep it:
Simple, by not over-analyzing or psycho-therapizing, (my adult daughter made up that word for me) as I’ve been accused of doing. Perhaps that may mean just smiling or laughing when we’d really like to defend our stance in a matter or figure out what the heck is wrong with that person. We can take
Actions to move that energy out of our body, like taking a walk, turning on some music to dance, or just screaming. (Yes, that’s allowed, though maybe not in public places.) Think lion’s pose in yoga as a great start. Next, it may benefit us to
Surrender to “what is”. Of course not if it means compromising your safety or self worth. What I mean is, surrendering to the tend to control, have expectations of others or perfectionism in ourselves. None of those really feed us, and I realize they are easier not done, than done, however one must let go of those, in order to make room for intuition, insight and growth. Then, in what way can you embrace your
Spirited self, that spunky young woman ready to take on challenges and face the world head-on? In stead of worrying about breaking things, break free of the confines you’ve set for yourself. It’s in the brokenness that the light enters and truly reveals our beautiful imperfections. Do something out of the ordinary, take a chance. I’m finally taking harp lessons (after having a harp for 5 years), and truly enjoying it. I’d delayed for all sorts of reasons; not enough time, fear of the grandson breaking it if it was left unattended, perfectionism and fear of really sucking at it. Now, I look forward to my first concert. Lastly, find what gives you
Inspiration and brings anticipation and excitement, like being pregnant, or getting engaged. I’ve been helping my daughter get ready to move into her new home this week. We’re exhausted and there have been many surprises found in ‘this old house’. (think MONEY PIT) but she embraces them with a can do attitude. Granted, at my age, I don’t want to go through that again, but in many ways, starting a business has been a similar experience with surprises, roadblocks, changes in direction and tons of self doubt.
Deciding to change your lifestyle toward one of health can also seem daunting and overwhelming. But you can do it. Keep it Simple, take small Actions each day, Surrender to the feelings you’re having, dig deep to your true Spirit, and above all else, stay Inspired!
